Archer should be focusing on how to keep his comic- book shop from financially crashing and burning in an epic way. However, when his sexy-as-hell best friend and Sunday-afternoon-movie buddy, Tori, asks him to teach her how to keep emotions out of sex, he welcomes the distraction.

Tori couldn’t ask for a better best friend than Archer. He respects her fandom, and he lets her sell her custom-made costumes in his store. Even better, he’s willing to give her a hands-on demonstration of how to keep love and sex separate. Experience has taught her not to fall for a guy who’s as infatuated with an ex-girlfriend as Archer is, so she’s already got the no-love bit covered.

With each new lesson, the line between the physical and emotional blurs a little more. Can they let go of their pasts—and learn a few new tricks along the way—or will they lose their friendship and budding relationship for good?
Excerpt:
Tori paused halfway up the walk to Archer’s, admiring the view. Not the well-trimmed shrubs lining the path, or the tulips growing under the window, she was watching the show on the other side of the bay window, in the open space that had been a living room when the house was built over one hundred years ago but was now the main floor of his shop.

Every movement he made stretched or elongated a new group of muscles along his back, neck, and arms. He was rearranging something under the counter while he talked to a girl, who was probably only fourteen or fifteen, and as captivated as Tori was by Archer.

Tori had ignored the attraction for a long time, but it wouldn’t hurt to look now. They’d cleared the air, they both knew they didn’t like each other like that, and he really was nice to look at. Her schedule had kept them from getting together again since the escape to the mountains almost a week ago, but they’d texted and everything seemed to be cool between them.

She pushed the rambling thoughts aside and made her way to the shop entrance. The bell on the door chimed in greeting. She’d always thought that was a nice touch. A deceptively low-tech device in a room completely wired with hidden cameras and alarms.

Archer looked up at the sound, and his customer took the excuse to study him again. Tori couldn’t help but smile at the reaction. Poor girl had no idea that even if she was ten years older, he was so far from interested in a relationship it wasn’t funny. An unfamiliar ache throbbed in her chest, and she ignored it.

Interview Part 2:
We now return to our Interview Already in Progress with Allyson Lindt:

Fun Stuff

1. What was the last movie/concert/show that you saw?

The last movie I saw was Sin City. The trailers are out for the sequel now, and they look so good. I loved the movie the first time around (and second, and third :) so after watching the new trailers, I figured it was time for a rewatch of the original.

2. What was the name of the last book you read?

The Immortal Crown by Richelle Mead. It’s the second book in her Age of X series, and I love these books. I’m a fan of her writing anyway, but something about this series has completely captured my heart, soul, and imagination.

3. Tell us 2 positive and 2 negative character traits you possess.

I’ve done a lot of job interviews in my life, and been on both sides of the table. I always smirk inwardly when I ask someone “what would you say is your biggest flaw” and they say something like “I’m too good at doing my work on time, and sometimes it means my work is done early."

Because really, that’s not a negative trait. So two of my actually negative traits? I’m a slob. Completely and totally unorganized, in every way imaginable. And second, I’m a procrastinator. Even if I know something *has* to be done now, and the consequences are dire for not doing it, I can find a way to justify not doing it.

On the other hand, two of my positive traits, I remember things. Lots of little details. Things that other people need remembered, but always forget. Birthdays, what was discussed in the design meeting six months ago, things like that. And I like buying gifts for people. It’s almost a compulsion, I’ll find myself in a store, or online, and randomly grab something “because so-and-so would love this.”

4. What is your biggest pet peeve?

Willful ignorance. People who have access to information and knowledge, and the only reason they’ve never used it is because they’d rather just not admit that they might not know.

5. What would we find in your refrigerator right now?

Half a leftover sandwich from lunch—that’ll be dinner, half a cup of soup that probably needs to be thrown out, and enough milk to make sure I can have coffee and cold cereal in the morning. Basically, a lot of leftovers and a few basic staples :)

Think Fast

1. AM or PM? AM
2. Mountains or Sea? Mountains
3. Coffee or Tea? Coffee
4. Cake or Pie? Cake
5. Print or Electronic? Electronic.

Thanks for coming by and spending some time with us. Any final words of wisdom to pass along? Thanks again for having me – it was a lot of fun. You’ve got some great interview questions, and really made me think.

As for final words of wisdom… erm… Be most excellent to each other! (That’s my obscure movie quote for the week that shows my age :)
