Miss Tamsin Tisdale believes herself to be completely unsuitable for London life. After a myriad of social mishaps, and the potential ruination of her family name, she’s shipped away to her cousin’s northern estate. Only after she comes to her senses will she be welcomed home.
Marcus Winston, the Duke of Grayson, has a lackluster reputation. The last in a dying line, he’s endured a protected life—rank with privilege, encumbered by isolation. After a brief encounter with rebellion, he learns the devastating consequences of his carelessness and willingly accepts living life from inside his gilded cage.
However, a chance meeting with the brazen Miss Tisdale gives Marc the opportunity to reinvent himself into the man he’s always dreamed of being. When his deception comes to light, and ghosts from both their pasts threaten to unravel the intimacy they’ve come to cherish, will either of them set their fears aside long enough to embrace love? Or will Miss Tisdale’s stubbornness divide them?
Excerpt:
Jason looked bored. “Get to the important part, Grayson. Was she beautiful?”
Again, Marc was ill-prepared to answer such a question. Taken individually, that large mouth, those plump pink lips, her long nose, red hair, and freckled skin—nothing about her was spectacular by any means. But together, all those odd pieces and parts, which seemed so ordinary at first glance, fit together to form the picture of a particularly stunning woman.
“Yes,” he answered quite simply. No need to give Jason any more fodder for discussion by rambling on like some sort of awful poet.
Jason grinned from ear to ear. “Well, that is quite eventful, indeed.” He swept a crumb off his jacket sleeve. “Does this original have a name?”
Marc stopped suddenly, his coffee halfway to his lips. “Name?”
Jason laughed. “Yes, her name. This unique creature has to have a name. Diana? Aphrodite? Venus, perhaps?” Then Jason stopped laughing as realization spread over his face like a mordant rash. “You don’t know her bloody name, do you?”
Marc set his cup down on the table and stared at it. “She never volunteered the information and I never bothered to ask.”
Interview:
Today, we welcome Jessica Jefferson to Musings and Ramblings. Let's all give a great big Geeky welcome!
Let's start with some writer specific questions before moving into the fun stuff. That way everyone can really get to know the person behind the writer. We will finish things off with round of Think Fast. Ready for the interrogation to begin?
Writing Specific
1. How do you deal with Writer's Block?
I like to listen to music, watch some movies, and hope that gets me out of it. It really only takes one little spark to get the fire going when it comes to my writing – sometimes I just need some help with the spark.
2. How involved are you with Social Media and self-promotion?
On a scale of 1-10, I’m at a 5. I’m one of the authors on Embracing Romance, a website featuring historical romance authors. We do a lot of promotion through that. I tweet, I post on Facebook. I don’t have a street team, but I do send out a newsletter when I have a new release.
3. What one thing do you wish someone had told you before you started writing?
I would have loved to know more about the publishing and self-promotion side of it. I used to think writing the book was the hard part – little did I know that it was just the beginning of a much bigger process.
4. Tell us something about yourself that's not in your bio.
I have a three year old and an eight year old daughter. My oldest didn’t even know I had written a book until after it was published. I tried only to write after bedtime so that it didn’t detract from my time with them.
5. What do you like to do when you are not writing?
When am I not writing? Actually – I love being outdoors. I’m a big camper, and we really enjoy the beaches around Lake Michigan.
Fun Stuff
1. What was the last movie/concert/show that you saw?
Last play was Les Mis in Chicago (2013).
2. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
To fly, because I have a fear of airplanes, but trust myself entirely.
3. What was the name of the last book you read?
The Earl’s Enticement (Collette Cameron)
4. Tell us 2 positive and 2 negative character traits you possess.
I’m stubborn and easily made angry, and I’m humble, and easily amused (this counteracts the anger part)
5. If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
The Ordinarily Extraordinary life of Jessica Jefferson.
Think Fast
1. Elvis or Sinatra? Elvis
2. AM or PM? PM
3. Mountains or Sea? Mountains
4. Meat or Veggies? Meat
5. Italian or Chinese? Chinese
Thanks for coming by and spending some time with us.
