A ballplayer and a team owner would give anything for a championship—even their hearts...Excerpt:
After inheriting majority ownership of the San Francisco Goliaths baseball team, Hunter Collins wants to prove to herself—and the rest of the league—that she’s got what it takes to build a champion. Her first move is to trade for a hot left-fielder. He’s got it all, speed, power, and a desire to win. Not to mention undeniable charm.
Marco Santiago is tired of being the new player in town. After four teams in six years, he’s facing free agency at the end of the season. He wants nothing more than a long-term contract and a World Series win. Hitting on his new owner probably isn’t the best way to get it, but love may be the most powerful challenger either of them has ever faced...
Warning: Strong language, consummated love scenes, and some baseball clichés.
“I’m only interested in winning the division and making a strong run in the postseason.” She turned her head to look out the window as if to show she was unaffected by the chemistry between them.Interview:
“Aren’t you a rotten liar?” He chuckled softly. Oh yeah, he was definitely getting to her. “Don’t join in the poker game at the next owners’ retreat. You’ll be wiped out.”
She whipped her head around so fast the car shook. “I happen to be a very good poker player. I can hold my own against anyone. Anytime.”
Interesting. Her strong reaction told him two things. She was insecure about her place among her fellow owners. And yes, she was interested in him on more than a professional level.
“That explains your wardrobe.” He leaned back, not ready to leave her just yet. “You dress like you do to fit in with the old boys’ club. But you can’t hide the fact that you are all woman.”
“And you can’t hide the fact that you don’t want to be here.” She dared look him straight in the eye, but couldn’t hold his gaze.
“I’m starting to come around.” He gave her one last smile.
Today, we welcome Kristina Mathews to Musings and Ramblings. Let's all give a great big Geeky welcome!
Let's start with some writer specific questions before moving into the fun stuff. That way everyone can really get to know the person behind the writer. We well finish things off with round of Think Fast. Ready for the interrogation to begin?
Writing Specific
1. Is your writing style more plotter or pantser?
Pantser all the way. I do have a general idea of the overall story arc, the big black moment, and the resolution, but I make the rest up as I go along.
2. When is your favorite time/place to write? Do you write structured or patchworked?
I write when I can. Before school, during my 40 minute lunch break, in the evenings. Much of my first book was written in the parking lot or on the bleachers while my sons were at baseball practice.
3. How do you deal with Writer's Block?
Sometimes I play a hand of Spider Solitaire, sometimes I take a nap or a shower or a walk. Usually I just need to step away for a while and the solution comes to me.
4. How involved are you with Social Media and self-promotion?
I have a blog, and I try to write something fresh weekly. I’m on Facebook and Twitter daily, if not several times a day. I love to do guest blogs and get to know new readers and bloggers.
5. What one thing do you wish someone had told you before you started writing?
How amazing the writing community is. If I had known, I might have found my people so much sooner.
Fun Stuff
1. What was the last movie/concert/show that you saw?
My niece Madeleine Mathews performed for an Empty Bowls fundraiser. She has an amazing voice and I hope she pursues a career in music.
2. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to be in two places at once.
3. What was the name of the last book you read?
Hearts In Harmony by Lyrical Press author Gemma Brocato. I’m now reading Carolina Man by Virginia Kantra. I met both of them at The Romance Writers of America Conference last month.
4. You are going to be stranded on a deserted island and bring 3 luxury items. What would they be?
Plumbing, electricity, and air conditioning.
5. What would we find in your refrigerator right now?
Milk, Diet Coke, beer, and kale.
Think Fast
1. Elvis or Sinatra? Sinatra
2. AM or PM? PM
3. Mountains or Sea? Mountains
4. Meat or Veggies? Meat
5. Coffee or Tea? Coffee

Author Bio:
Kristina Mathews doesn't remember a time when she didn't have a book in her hand. Or in her head. But it wasn't until 2010 that she confessed the reason the laundry never made it out of the dryer was because she was busy writing romance novels.
While she resigned from teaching with the arrival of her second son, she's remained an educator in some form. As a volunteer, Parent Club member or para educator, she finds the most satisfaction working with emergent and developing readers, helping foster confidence and a lifelong love of books.
Kristina lives in Northern California with her husband of twenty years, two sons and a black lab. A veteran road tripper, amateur renovator and sports fanatic. She hopes to one day travel all 3,073 miles of Highway 50 from Sacramento, CA to Ocean City, MD, replace her carpet with hardwood floors and serve as a “Ball Dudette” for the San Francisco Giants.

DeleteHi Mary,
DeleteIt was fun to answer the questions too.
Thank it was a fun interview and you have interesting items in your fridge lol
ReplyDeleteThat is always one of my favorite questions. :)
DeleteNow that my youngest is back from his trip with his grandparents, the milk supply will dwindle.
DeleteI enjoyed your interview. If I could have one special gift, it would be time travel.
ReplyDeleteOh, that would be an awesome gift!
DeleteI tried to reply twice before. Hopefully third time is a charm. I wouldn't want to travel to any time that doesn't have indoor plumbing. I'm spoiled that way.
DeleteThank you for hosting me. It's nice to see some familiar faces and a few new friends.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, I hope you had a good time with the interview. :)
DeleteI enjoyed the interview. I agree with your luxury items.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind camping now and again, but I can only go so long without plumbing.
DeleteWasn't this a smart answer? Basically we are talking RV or Camper here which means real beds, hot meals and storage ability. Definitely thinking broader makes more sense with those types of questions. :)
DeleteOh my gosh yes. Being able to be in two places at once would be amazing sometimes. Thanks for the interview ladies!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely would have made the Little League years easier when both my boys were playing at the same time at opposite ends of the county. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by Anna. I like the idea of being in two places at once too... Just think of all the reading I could get done. ;)
DeleteIt looks good, I like the cover. Thanks for the giveaway!
