After Daisy catches Raphael’s shirt during a striptease at a gay bar, she’s tempted. Can a rakish comic change her ideas about love and fortune?

She looked like she was hiding a smile. I tipped her chin up, turning it toward me. “It’s okay to laugh. It was a joke.”
My coffee breath be damned, I was going to kiss her. Then the phone rang, breaking the tension I’d worked to build up. Who was at the front door now? I went to the hall and picked up the phone and listened to the delivery man’s spiel. “Yeah. Okay.”
I poked my head back in the kitchen. “I have to get something from the mailman.”
“Oh, alright. Maybe I should…”
“Stay where you are. I’ll be right back.”
Why did a package have to come now of all days? Daisy was a skittish one. I had to get back in there and close the deal. I signed some piece of paper and grabbed the box from the guy in a blue uniform. I was usually friendly with him. I think he’d even come to one or two of my shows, but I needed to get back to her before she changed her mind. Maybe I’d start a fire, ease that tiny sweater down, unbutton that dress….
Daisy had her loafers on and sweater pulled tight. She tucked her hair behind her ears. “I’ve got a lot of stuff to do. I should really go. Um, thanks again for breakfast.” She pulled me in and kissed me on the cheek.
“Maybe we could do this again sometime.” I was thinking sometime today or sometime later tonight after I got back from Comedy and Magic.
She ducked her head. “I’d like that, Rafe. I’d really like that.” She gave my arm a brief squeeze, and she was out the door. “You may be my first gay friend.”
Gay. She thought I was gay? No way was I getting laid today.

Let's start with some writer specific questions before moving into the fun stuff. That way everyone can really get to know the person behind the writer. We will finish things off with a round of Think Fast. Ready for the interrogation to begin?
Ready as I'll ever be.
Writing Specific
1. Is your writing style more plotter or pantser?Pantser. I like to be surprised every day.
2. When is your favorite time/place to write? Do you write structured or patchworked?
I used to write whenever the mood struck. Then . . . I had a child. Now I write during school hours or at night.
3. How do you deal with Writer's Block?
Hiking. Biking. Knitting. Doing something helps more than sitting and bemoaning the lack of ideas.
4. How did you choose the genres you write in?
I write two of my favorite genres, sexy contemporary romance/women's fiction and legal thrillers. I write stories the way I wish they were told.
5. Is there any particular author or book that has influenced you or your writing?
One of the authors that has influenced me the most is Barbara Delinsky. She went from writing Harlequin Series Romances which I used to read like people eat candy. When she switched to women's fiction, I followed her and expanded my horizons to reading about women's journeys whether or not there was a hero involved.
Fun Stuff
1. What was the last movie/concert/show that you saw?Bazsó and Borka, a Hungarian Children's play about red haired twin sisters who don't always get along.
2. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I'd want to read minds! This summer I spent all my time trying to work out what people were thinking on the bus as I took my son to and from summer camp.
3. What was the name of the last book you read?
The Lotus Palace by Jeannie Lin.
4. If you could have dinner with anyone, past or present, fictional or real, who would it be and why?
Oscar Wilde. I'd love to be able to steer him from that decision that brought about his downfall. Plus it would probably be very entertaining.
5. What would we find in your refrigerator right now?
Hungarian sausage, garlic goat cheese, fresh chicken with head and feet attached, mineral water, and so-called drinking yogurt. (I'm in Budapest at the moment).

Urgh! Coffee breath is the worst, but that excerpt is still hot. I'm not familiar with Barbara Delinsky's writing, so I'll be looking her up on GoodReads asap.
