Forever Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan
A Montgomery Ink Novella
The idea of a May-December romance has never looked so hot when it comes to broody lawyer, Morgan and sizzling tattoo artist, Callie. Between conniving family members, blondes with too much time on their hands, and their own misgivings, trust in the bedroom and out of it won't come easy.
Takedown by Cari Quinn
A Tapped Out Bonus Novella
After honorably discharged Navy SEAL Liam Walsh discovers his estranged brother, Slater, is living platonically with Abby, the only woman Liam ever loved, he vows to remind her of their scorching history. But Abby has changed since Liam left, and he only has one long weekend to stake his claim...
Bound Memories by Sidney Bristol
A Bayou Bound Novella
Kit Carson is back in his home town to do more than promote his latest reality TV win on Tattoo King. He's returned to win over the woman who kinked up his world, but Renee LeBlanc isn't the girl he remembers. Ten years can go in a blink of an eye and he won't let her walk away from him again.
Last month I reviewed Delicate Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan. I enjoyed reading the first book in her Montgomery Ink series though I wished I had read the first novella for the series. So when I had the chance to request the ARC for the next novella, I grabbed it. All three of these novellas are from current series.
Forever Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan is book #1.5 in the Montgomery Ink series and tells the story of Callie. We met Callie in book one as the apprentice to Austin Montgomery. At the beginning of this story she has just been promoted to her own station and can now do tattoos on her own. Morgan comes in to finally get a back piece done that he has been thinking on for years. He is 40, Callie is 25, and the 15 year age difference is definitely an obstacle. My biggest problem though was that I couldn't understand how a man who was supposed to be all Dom let his mother walk all over him. It just didn't jell for me.
Takedown by Cari Quinn is book #1.5 in the Tapped Out series. I haven't read anything by this author and didn't even realize it was from a current series. This was the shortest of the stories. I was confused a bit about Abby and Slater's relationship during the story, but I think this was intentional. It helped to add to the drama and uncertainty between Liam and Abby. This story worked well as a stand alone.
Bound Memories by Sidney Bristol is #3 in the Bayou Bound series. This was the strongest story for me. Kit returns home the conquering hero to find out that Renee had given up her dream of being a tattoo artist and now just sketches for herself. The two former lovers combust once in each other's company again. Plus there was a bit of a mystery and suspense as they help his dying uncle solve one last cold case. Even though this story did a bit of referencing back to the Midnight Ink Anthology and the characters in it, when they couple visited the shop, it would still work as a stand alone. It's just now I want to read the first Anthology more than ever.
All three of these stories had elements of some bedroom dominance going on, with Bound Memories being the most explicit and all three featured tattooed couples. Overall this was a nice anthology and has introduced me to some new authors. A solid 3 star read.
