"Hello Wes." Daniel just managed to choke out past his grief.Interview:
Those burning blue eyes studied Daniel for a moment before Westragen, the healer, spoke in a dry whisper. "Daniel, you've returned." Daniel's chin dropped to his chest as tears spilled between his eyelids. He couldn't even bring himself to look at the old man when next he spoke. "My boy?" Was there a note of reproach in that whisper? Yes, Daniel thought there was. "Greggor?" The tears continued to roll as he managed to shake his head once. "Ah!" Daniel wouldn't have thought so much pain could be emoted in one whispered word.
He looked up at the man through vision made blurry by tears. It looked as though Westragen shrank somehow. It was as if his last reason to keep fighting for breath was gone. Tears swam in the healer's eyes as he laid his head back, his jaw slack, staring off into nothing. "I'm so sorry, Wes," Daniel blubbered, barely understandable.
When he spoke Westragen's eyes darted to his own. He blinked back tears and glared hot hate at Daniel. "Sorry? You're sorry? You killed my boy. I'll not listen to your apologies." Westragen's frail body shook, spittle and blood flecking his lips in his effort to roar, though only a dry whisper came out. Daniel's chin sank to his chest once more and his shoulders slumped. In his mind he saw the bloody wreckage that was Greggor, pulled from the Swordgrass. Another sacrifice to the Prophecy, one of many in an unending line. The weight of those sacrifices bowed Daniel's back, crushed his spirit.

Let's start with some writer specific questions before moving into the fun stuff. That way everyone can really get to know the person behind the writer. We weill finish things off with round of Think Fast. Ready for the interrogation to begin?
Writing Specific
1. Is your writing style more plotter or pantser?My writing is mostly of the plotter variety. I start with an outline, but even that is only written after carefully considering the story arc and working out the major points ahead of time in my mind. Occasionally, though, a sequence will just come to me while I’m writing. Those are really exciting! I’ve no idea where these tangents come from, but they are some of the most enjoyable portions to write. I love it when I sit down without any idea what I’ll write and when I’m finished say, “Wow! Where did that come from?” An example would be some of the characters that inhabited a chapter that was essentially a flash-back scene. I knew what the action was going to be in that scene, but all of the lively characters that came to mind when I sat down were quite a refreshing surprise! They really lit up the chapter, bringing it to life.
2. When is your favorite time/place to write? Do you write structured or patchworked?
I have three kids and a wife I adore, so I don’t know if it’s my favorite time, but the time I have to write is usually between 10pm and around 2am, after everyone else is in bed. I do occasionally write on my laptop in other places, but my favorite place to write is at my home computer in my office. If by structured you mean in sequence, yes, I write the book in the order you see it. If I have an idea for a portion out of sequence that I’m afraid I might forget before I get there in the manuscript, I write it into my outline and come back to it when it’s time, to see if it still works in the book.
3. Tell us something about yourself that's not in your bio.
I love to challenge myself! Every year I try to find one thing to challenge myself in some new way. In the past years that has included teaching, competing in triathlons, running in endurance obstacle course races (think Warrior Dash), and this year boxing. Oh, and I also challenged myself to write a novel…
4. What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I live! How else will I have things to write about??? I would love to be a full-time writer but currently my full-time job is as a pharmacist. I am also the director of a program to train future pharmacy technicians at my local community college, as well as volunteering to teach junior high boys at my church. When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family. I’ve got three young children that are active in just about every sport/activity imaginable, so I spend a lot of time at soccer/football/baseball/basketball/tennis games, track meets, cub scout meetings, you name it!
5. How did you choose the genres you write in?
I’ve loved fantasy since I was in grade school, so I knew I wanted to write a fantasy novel, which turned into The Prophecy Chronicles trilogy, of which Prophecy Revealed is the second. I still really like fantasy, but my tastes have changed somewhat over the years. Currently I’m working on another book that will be more mainstream fiction. I wanted this one to be based in modern-day America, so I didn’t see how fantasy would fit in that.
Fun Stuff
1. What was the last movie/concert/show that you saw?Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with my kids…I wouldn’t recommend it. The last one I went to and enjoyed was also with my kids…Guardians of the Galaxy.[I can't wait to see this one myself!]
2. What was the name of the last book you read?
The last one was Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes. Currently I’m reading Worst. Person. Ever. By Douglas Coupland…very funny!
3. If you could have dinner with anyone, past or present, fictional or real, who would it be and why?
This sounds like I’m cheating, because I have dinner with this person all the time, but seriously, the only person I can imagine wanting to have dinner with (aside from my kids and friends) is my wife. Leslie is my best friend and closest confidant. A date-night with just the two of us is heaven…[Ladies, say it with me now... AWWWW!]
4. You are going to be stranded on a deserted island and bring 3 luxury items. What would they be?
1) A corkscrew…Don’t want to cut the tops off of all the bottles of wine that wash ashore. 2) An enormous bottle of bug spray…I hate bugs. 3) A plane, to get the Hell off the deserted island. [That does sound like a smart list! *grin*]
5. What would we find in your refrigerator right now?
Shock Top Belgian White, Villa Maria Merlot-Cab, and Chi Chi’s Margarita mix…oh, and a gallon of milk!

1. AM or PM? PM…what exactly is AM?!?2. Mountains or Sea? Sea…I love the ocean and a nice warm beach…

Whenever anyone asks me for wisdom I just tell them, “Don’t spit into the wind.” Aside from that, love what you do, and do it with your whole heart! We all only get one go ‘round in this world, so make the most of it! Life is not a spectator sport!!! Does that sound like a t-shirt slogan?

Author Bio:
Ron Hartman has had a life-long passion for the written word and is an avid reader. The Prophecy Chronicles are his first written works. The first in the series, Prophecy Foretold, was released in October of 2012. Prophecy Revealed is the second in the trilogy. Ron graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2000 and lives in Ottumwa, Iowa with his wife and three children.
